It has been announced this week that The Tan Thuan Industrial Development Company
and the DP World from the United Arab Emirate (UEA) are to step up the construction
of the Saigon Central Container Port in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in order
to boost trade volumes for next year.
According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on Thursday, the project
- which is set to cost around USD30mn - will see quays built with the capacity to handle up to 1 million TEU.
In addition to this, the VNA have reported that plans have been laid for an
additional project within the area, which will see the Soai Rap dredged in order
to enable the port to receive cargo ships of up to 70,000 tonnes.
